New Delhi: Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam announced in the National Assembly that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will serve as the Guest of Honour at the country's National Day celebrations. Modi is scheduled to visit Port Louis on March 11 and 12, during which bilateral talks will be held between the two nations.
Mauritius commemorates its National Day on March 12, marking the 57th anniversary of its independence. Speaking amid enthusiastic applause, Ramgoolam expressed his delight at hosting a leader of such stature, noting that despite his busy schedule and recent trips to Paris and the United States, Modi had graciously accepted the invitation.
He described the visit as a testament to the close ties between India and Mauritius. The two countries share a robust relationship and strong economic partnership, underscored by the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) in 2021 and a recent protocol amending the tax treaty to curb evasion and foster mutual trade and investment.
