MP: 7, including 6 children, killed in separate incidents of wall collapse
Bhopal: Seven persons including six children were on Saturday killed in two separate incidents of wall collapse in Madhya Pradesh.
In the first incident, four school children and a woman were killed in Gada Kasbe in Rewa district when the wall of a house close to their school collapsed.
Four other school children who were buried under the debris of the collapsed wall were rescued by the locals.
They were injured and admitted to the local hospital, police said.
The incident happened when the school children were returning home after closure of their school for the day.
The wall of a house close to the gate of their school collapsed burying eight children and a woman under its debris, police said.
While four children and the woman died, four other children were rescued alive.
Three of the four slain children belonged to one family.
Two people, Ramesh Namdev and Satish Namdev, who are the owners of the dilapidated house, were arrested in connection with the incident, Rewa additional superintendent of police Vivek Lal said.
Chief minister Mohan Yadav expressed shock and grief over the tragedy and announced financial assistance of Rs two lakh each to the parents of the deceased.
In another incident, two children of a family killed and five others injured when their house collapsed due to the incessant rains in Narsinghpur district in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
The incident took place in Rampura village under Gadarwara tehsil, police said.
