MP Begins Survey Of Waqf Board Properties

The Waqf Amendment Act passed in the parliament made it mandatory for the physical verification of Waqf properties.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has begun a survey of Waqf Board properties in the state.

The Waqf Amendment Act passed in the parliament made it mandatory for the physical verification of Waqf properties.

The verification involved recording the status of tenancy and occupation of these properties, a senior officer of the state revenue department said on Monday.

Madhya Pradesh currently has a total of 23,118 Waqf properties.

Focus would be on the 14,986 landed properties, including houses, shops, lands and buildings in the verification exercise, sources said.

Meanwhile, a madrasa in the district headquarters of Panna in Madhya Pradesh, run for the last 30 years, was demolished by its promoters ‘voluntarily’ since it was built on government land.

This was the first case of demolition of a madrasa built on government land in the state after the Waqf Amendment Act saw passage in the parliament.
