Madhya Pradesh CM Launches Millet Promotion Scheme

Bhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Friday unveiled the Centre’s millet promotion scheme in Madhya Pradesh on the sidelines of celebration of the International Yoga Day.

Mr Yadav who led the state level celebration of International Yoga Day here said that the coarse grains, the traditional food of India, are considered healthy.

Yoga also keeps one healthy, he said.

Mr Yadav detailed subsidies given on the cultivation of millet crops by farmers under the scheme and said that an incentive of Rs 1,000 per quintal of coarse grains produced by the farmers would be given to promote millet crops in the state.

Meanwhile, the International Yoga Day was celebrated across the state.

Events were also organised on hilltops and water bodies at several places in the state to observe the occasion.

Madhya Pradesh governor Mangubhai Patel, chief minister Mr Yadav and his ministerial colleagues and district collectors and eminent people led the yoga events at various places in the state.
