MP: Rajasthan Tiger Enters Kuno; No Threat To Cheetahs, Say Authorities
The big cat has been identified as T-2512 of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) in Rajasthan.

Bhopal: A tiger from Rajasthan has entered the Kuno National Park (KNP), home to cheetahs, in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district, a forest officer said on Friday.
The big cat has been identified as T-2512 of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) in Rajasthan.
The tiger was spotted by a tourist, KNP field director Uttam Kumar Sharma told this newspaper.
According to him, the particular tiger frequently moves into Kuno from Ranthambore as both the reserve forests share a tiger landscape.
“This particular tiger has been making movements between Ranthambore and Kuno for the last several months. Presence of the big cat is no threat to cheetahs in Kuno”, he added.
According to him, only the T-2512 is spotted in Kuno.
The KNP currently has 54 cheetahs including cubs.
Three cheetahs, two males and one female, were shifted to Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary in Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh from Kuno a year ago.
India’s cheetah reintroduction project was launched in September 2022 when eight cheetahs from Namibia were translocated to Kuno.
Six months later, 12 more cheetahs were brought to Kuno from South Africa under the project.
Nine cheetahs were brought to Kuno from Botswana around a month ago.
