Multiple treats as Wings India-2024 opened to the public
Hyderabad: The ongoing Wings India-2024 at the Begumpet Airport, here, was thrown open to the public on Saturday, showcasing 25 aircraft, among other treats. Sunday is the last day of the expo for the public to visit.
Multiple aviation treats delighted the visitors. While most were busy taking pictures of the air show and wide-bodied jets on display, aspiring pilots were seen trying their hand at the aircraft simulator.
However, brakes were put on the merriment towards the evening as many of the visitors complained of discrimination.
The biggest attraction of the day was the air show. The Indian Air Force's (IAF) Sarang helicopter team performed to loud applause. During the airshow, a heart was drawn in the sky with smoke from an aircraft. Other such performances drew loud cheers.
Another major attraction was percussionist Sivamani's performance.
Though the expo was an opportunity for families to have a day out, trainee pilots did not miss the chance to have a close view of Boeing's latest aircraft, B777-9. “I wish I could fly it someday," said one of the trainee pilots.
"I am comparing the size of the Boeing 777-9 with the other aircraft parked. I am astonished seeing its size and this show is worth a visit," said V. Dilip, an engineering student. In total, 25 aircraft were on display.
In the evening, some families were left disappointed as security men stopped them from crossing the fence near the aircraft and allegedly allowed people with 'recommendations' from various departments.
"We have purchased the tickets, but the ones with recommendations and free passes are allowed to go near the aircraft," said one of the complainants.
