MVA will be wiped out in Maharashtra the way Cong was defeated in Haryana: Shah

Mumbai: Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday expressed confidence that the BJP-led ‘Mahayuti’ will defeat the ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’ alliance in Maharashtra in the same way BJP had defeated Congress in Haryana. Addressing an election rally in Sangli, the senior BJP leader alleged that Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar aim to make their children chief ministers, multiple Congress leaders are also eyeing the role, but the BJP and its alliance partners are committed to the development of Maharashtra.

Mr Shah addressed an election rally at Shirala in Sangli district, where he sought votes for BJP candidates Sudhir Gadgil and Sanjay Kaka Patil contesting from Islampur and Shirala constituencies. Claiming that Uddhav Thacekray’s only aim in the election is to make his son Aaditya the chief minister and Mr Pawar wants the post for his daughter Spriyha Sule, the BJP leader said, “The BJP is committed to developing Maharashtra. We stand firm on our resolution of development. You will have to take responsibility for the upcoming elections. You will have to make sure that the developmental journey continues.”

Referring to the Kashmir issue, the Union home minister said that neither Rahul Gandhi nor his future generations will be able to bring back Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Expressing confidence that the ‘Mahayuti’ will defeat the ‘MVA’ in Maharashtra, the senior BJP leader said, “I was touring Maharashtra a month-and-a-half ago. Everywhere, the same thing is happening. People are saying that a Mahayuti government has to be formed. There is a BJP government at the Centre. Form an NDA government in the state and together they will work to make Maharashtra the Number one state in the country.”

“These MVA people had purchased crackers worth crores of rupees thinking that they will win Haryana, but in most of the places, they gave their crackers to the BJP workers. In Haryana, the Congress was wiped out. Similarly, the Aghadi will be wiped out in Maharashtra as BJP will form a government,” he added.

Mr. Shah further alleged that the MVA can neither make the country safe nor can they increase the country's respect. Addressing the rally, he said, “If this work has to be done, then Modi ji's hands will have to be strengthened. Voting is to take place all over Maharashtra on November 20, and you people have to play a decisive role in it.”

The BJP leader accused the Congress of making false promises that it never fulfills. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge himself says that whatever promises his party makes are imaginary, he claimed.
