Naidu Set to Re-enter AP Assembly After More Than 2 Years as CM
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu is all set to re-enter the AP Legislative Assembly after a gap of more than two years. Naidu had earlier announced that he would not enter the Kaurava Sabha (Assembly) for insulting him and his wife and would come back only after getting elected as the CM again. It may be recalled that breaking down publicly over the humiliation he had faced in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in November 2021, the then-leader of the Opposition Chandrababu Naidu had vowed to return to the Assembly only as the Chief Minister.
Two-and-half years later, he is set to return to the Assembly as the Chief Minister following the NDA’s mighty show in the 2024 elections. Naidu during that time alleged that the YSRC MLAs had humiliated him by making personal remarks about his wife Bhuvaneswari and had turned emotional and broke down at a news conference on November 19, 2021. He said that he had never faced such a humiliation in his political life and termed the Assembly as 'Kaurava Sabha' and decided to boycott it till 2024. He alleged that he had sought the mike to express his opinion as a leader of the Opposition but the YSRC government denied the same and YSRC MLAs humiliated him.
On that day, the Assembly had witnessed dramatic scenes when Chandrababu Naidu vowed to come to the House again only as the Chief Minister while staging a walkout in protest against a barrage of personal comments made by YSRC MLAs during a discussion on the agriculture sector.
Chandrababu Naidu had said his wife had never interfered in politics but the YSRC leaders dragged her name and resorted to character assassination. Chandrababu Naidu regretted that after nearly four decades of his political career during which he rubbed shoulders with the who's who of national leaders, he had to face this humiliation. Now with the landslide victory of the NDA, which includes TD, Jana Sena and BJP, Naidu is going to be Chief Minister again by forming the coalition government. On Wednesday, Naidu recalling the bitter incident in the Assembly said that he would serve the state like a servant offering good services to the people and would run the House (Assembly) as a Holy Temple of Democracy.
