National Testing Agency announces centre and city-wise results of NEET-UG

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday released the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 results city and centre-wise for all students. The results have been published in this format following Supreme Court direction which is hearing several petitions about the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exam including paper leak.

The controversy over the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024 broke last month after allegations of question paper leak. NTA conducted the medical entrance exam at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 cities abroad, for more than 24 lakh candidates on May 5. The results were initially announced on June 5.

After the results were announced by the exam testing agency, concerns were raised over the unexpectedly high cut-off scores, compensatory marks and the number of candidates achieving perfect scores. NTA also conducted a retest for a total 1563 candidates who were earlier awarded grace marks to compensate for loss of time as the exam on May 5 started late at six centres.

The top court had ordered that the results be announced while masking the identities of the aspirants, saying it wanted to ascertain whether candidates appearing at allegedly tainted centres secured more marks than those writing the exam elsewhere.

The apex court will resume hearing the arguments on July 22 on a batch of pleas seeking cancellation, re-test and a court-monitored probe into the allegations of malpractice in the prestigious exam.
