New Scheme for State Women Soon: Sultania

Suryapet: Sandeep Kumar Sultania, secretary of the panchayat raj and rural development, has said that the Telangana government would soon launch Mahila Shakti scheme for the overall development of the women in the state.

Sultania on Thursday inspected Mahila Swashakthi tailoring centre at Ahmakur (S) in the district and interacted with the Self Help Groups (SHGs) women there.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the state government was implementing several programmes through the rural development department to help women achieve financial self-sufficiency and told the SHG members to make use of the schemes to achieve financial freedom.

He said that financial self-sufficiency would play a key role in achieving women's empowerment in the state.

Sultania said that the state government had ordered for stitching of 70 lakh uniforms for the distribution in the government-run schools ahead of the new academic year. In addition to this, women committees had also been set up for Amma Adarsha Patashalalu (Schools), he added.

District Collector S. Venkat Rao assured that training programmes would be conducted for the SHG women to improve their tailoring skills. The officials of the education department had been instructed to ensure that all students wear new uniforms on the first day of the new academic year, he added.

District education officer Ashok Kumar and district rural development officer Madhusudhan Raju were present.
