NIA Conducts Searches in 2023 Assembly Poll IED Blast Case In Chhattisgarh

Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched multiple locations in Chhattisgarh in connection with the CPI (Maoist)-led IED attack on a poll party convoy during the 2023 Assembly elections.

NIA teams conducted extensive searches on the premises of six suspects in the Naxal-infested area of village Badegobra under Mainpur police station limits in Gariyaband district as part of its investigations in the case RC-05/2024/NIA/RPR.

Several mobile phones and Rs.2.98 lakh in cash were seized during the searches from the premises of suspects believed to be working as overground workers (OGWs) and supporters of the Mainpur-Nuapada division of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit.

A head constable of Indo-Tibetan Battalion Police (ITBP) ADHOC 615 Battalion was injured in the attack that took place in November 2023. The NIA, which had taken over the case in February 2024, had identified the CPI (Maoist) cadres as the perpetrators of the attack. Further Investigations in the case are continuing.
