Pink Moon: Will the Moon really turn pink tonight?

The Pink Moon, also known as 'micromoon' is an event that happens every year during the first full moon of April, that signifies the beginning of spring season

In a delightful news to all the 'Selenophiles', the sky will be illuminated with the first full moon of the month tonight (Saturday), officially marking the onset of spring season.

Interestingly, the first full moon of April is often dubbed as 'Pink Moon.'

The Pink Moon, also known as 'micromoon' is an event that happens every year during the first full moon (usually) of April, that signifies the beginning of spring season.
So, will the moon actually change its colour or appearance?
The answer is no, the moon would look the same just like it appears on any other full moon day, in shades of silvery-white or slightly golden colour. However, the colour of the moon might change due to atmospheric conditions and might look slightly orangish, pinkish or sometimes reddish.
The name 'Pink moon' is more symbolic. The tradition of calling the first full moon in April was introduced by some native Americans, as it coincides with the blooming of a pinkish flower called the 'wild ground phlox,' that signals the onset of spring in North America.
The pink moon in India can be seen from 5 am on Sunday and in the US after 8 pm on Saturday.
