Visakhapatnam: An explosion at an iron ore slurry pipeline of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India passing through the Balapam panchayat of Chintapalli mandal on Friday night devastated farmlands in the area.
No one has, however, been injured, though crops and soil in the area have been completely damaged.
Around 50 workers of ArcelorMittal Nippon are repairing the damaged pipeline.
Chintapalli tahsildar T. Ramakrishna reached the spot upon hearing the news. He told Deccan Chronicle that the company has assured that it will clean up the surrounding lands. "The company will compensate the farmers,” he stated.
