New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar on his death anniversary. In a post on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, Modi praised Savarkar’s “invaluable sacrifice, courage, and struggle” during India’s independence movement, asserting that the nation would remain forever grateful for his contributions.

Savarkar, who died in 1966, was a prolific writer whose works — and particularly his ideas on Hindutva — have grown in influence over the decades. They continue to serve as a significant foundation for Hindu nationalist thought in contemporary India.
