Telugu Desam chief yet to finalise candidates for Nellore

He softened after the CM spoke to him. Now, both Jayakumar Reddy and Srinivasulu Reddy went to Amaravati along with other senior leaders.

Nellore: Telugu Desam cadre in district have been waiting for the outcome of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s meeting with the leaders of all the 10 Assembly segments and Nellore Parliament constituency, on Thursday, to decide the candidates.

TD high command has invited aspirants for tickets, as well as some dissidents, to Amaravati to sort out all the issues and select the candidates. The invitees include agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, urban development minister P. Narayana, MLC and district president Beeda Ravichandra, former minister Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Mayor S.K. Abdul Aziz, former legislator Beeda Masthan Rao, Gudur legislator Pasam Suneel Kumar, Kovur legislator Polamreddy Sriniv-asulu Reddy, Venkatagiri legislator K. Ramakrishna and Udayagiri legislator Bollineni Rama Rao, among others.

District leaders paid special attention to take dissident leaders to Amaravati to get some assurance from the Chief Minister, to avoid anti-party activities. Pellakuru and Anam Jayakumar Reddy have aspired for Kovur and Nellore tickets and they openly expressed their displeasure for ignoring them. In case of Srinivasulu Reddy, he said that he will enter the fray from Kovur even if the party fails to give him a ticket. He softened after the CM spoke to him. Now, both Jayakumar Reddy and Srinivasulu Reddy went to Amaravati along with other senior leaders.

Sources in the TDP said that the Chief Minister is meeting leaders of each segment separately to decide the candidates and the exercise may continue till the wee hours of Friday.
