TIRUPATI; Telugu Desam has appointed former minister Dr. Ponguru Narayana as party in-charge of Nellore Urban constituency to strengthen TD in the region.
Incidentally, Narayana had taken a backseat in politics following his defeat in the 2019 Assembly elections from Nellore Urban.
TD state president Kinjarapu Atchannaidu made the announcement regarding Narayana’s appointment in an official statement issued late on Thursday night. Atchannaidu said Narayana's appointment has been made following orders of TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Narayana replaces Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy, who had functioned as party’s in-charge of Nellore Urban for the past four years.
Srinivasula Reddy had nursed high hopes that as in-charge of Nellore Urban seat for past four years, he would be getting the TD ticket from the constituency. As such, Narayana’s appointment announced officially has come as a big disappointment for him.
Sources said TD has promised Srinivasula Reddy an MLC post, apart from appointing him as general secretary of the Nellore district TD unit. It is being speculated that the announcement in this regard will be made prior to the arrival of Telugu Desam national general secretary Nara Lokesh in Nellore city as part of his Yuvagalam Padayatra.
