BJP leader poses nine queries to YSRC

Vijayawada: State BJP general secretary Vishnu Vardhan has posed nine questions to the YSR Congress government and sought a debate.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, the BJP leader slammed the state ministers for targeting his party chief D Purandeswari. The ministers were unable to respond to several issues raised by her, Vishnu said.

He questioned the YSRC government on its “failure to curb illegal trafficking of children.” AP stood third among the states in this respect. As for per capita income, he asked why it was less in AP despite the growth in agriculture, horticulture and aquaculture in the state.

Why did AP fail to utilise the Jan Jeevan Mission by availing the Centre’s financial aid to ensure availability of drinking water to the people, he asked.

Vishnu Vardhan said the state was having poor healthcare facilities vis-a-vis the poor and asked why no proper amenities were provided in the health centres in both urban and rural areas. There was non-availability of both medical tests and medicines to the poor patients. No healthcare was being provided under the Aarogyasri scheme in 80 per cent of the corporate hospitals, he said and asked why their bills remained uncleared?

He accused the state government of neglecting higher education and not releasing scholarships to PG students. He asked why Telugu language was withdrawn in degree courses and instead there is promotion of English language.

Referring to the vacant 2.5 lakh backlog in filling of posts in government departments, universities, colleges and schools, he asked as to why this was so. Also, why did the government not restore the damaged roads in the state?
