VIJAYAWADA: BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari announced that their party will start collecting soil from each village of Andhra Pradesh from Friday, September 1 as part of all India BJP’s Naa Bhoomi – Naa Desam movement. The programme to collect the soil will continue till September 15.
The soil thus gathered will be taken to New Delhi for setting up an Amruthavanam.
Addressing a state-level workshop for the party’s social media and IT activists here on Thursday, Purandeswari said apart from collecting soil, they will also gather rice from towns and cities. The party will continue such programmes till October 2 to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary celebrations.
The BJP state chief said in phase II of the programme, they will explain to people how the soil collected is to be sent to New Delhi.
Underlining the role of social media in accessing people, she told the party’s media and IT activists to inform people about the help that the centre has given to AP so far and expose the failures of the YSR Congress government.
Purandeswari lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing a series of welfare schemes in Andhra Pradesh. She listed out how houses and toilets have been built for women. She underlined the recent reduction in the price of domestic gas refills to benefit women on the occasion of the Raksha Bandhan festival.
The BJP state president vowed that their party, along with ally Jana Sena, will continue their stir against the state government diverting central funds meant for gram panchayats. She expressed concern over the appointment of persons from other religions to the TTD trust board.
Purandeswari refused to comment on remarks of YSR Congress leaders, including Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and MP V. Vijayasai Reddy, on the release of the ₹100 denomination commemorative coin to mark the birth centenary celebration of N.T. Rama Rao recently at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
She maintained that all their family members took part in the function. She underlined that the issue should not be politicised.
