Interview | Hindu Rashtra Is My Sole Aim: Raja Singh

‘I know nothing about secularism and I only swear by Hinduism. My aim is to usher in a Hindu rashtra,” declared T. Raja Singh, MLA of Goshamahal, who is now under suspension from BJP, while talking exclusively to Deccan Chronicle.

The controversial leader denied reports of his joining any party and dismissed them as ‘unwarranted rumours’.

On his personal agenda, he said: “Politics is only my secondary interest. The first is to strive for accomplishing Hindu rashtra. Among other things, I want an immediate ban on cow-slaughter, introduction of an anti-conversion bill and a stringent law against love jihad.”

Excerpts:

Q. What do you regard as your biggest contributions for your constituency?

In my constituency, especially Dhoolpet, many people belong to BPL families. I have laid new roads and repaired many old ones and constructed nalas. Apart from a big Hanuman statue, I have personally monitored the construction of a temple spending over 'eight crore without any support from the state government. This is gradually gaining in popularity as a tourist spot.

Q: Will you leave the BJP if the party does not lift the suspension?

I have given my explanation in writing both to the central and state leaderships. I have been assured that the suspension will be lifted within two weeks. The high command has stated that the delay was due to the fact that this was a national issue. I can say that it is at the behest of MIM that the BRS government hatched a conspiracy and slapped PD cases against me.

Q. Will you join BRS?

There is no question of joining either BRS or the Congress. If things don’t work out my way in the BJP, I will take political sabbatical and concentrate fully on achieving the goals I have set like Hindu rashtra.

Q: What are the three things the BJP has done for Hindus under Narendra Modi?

Post-2014, India has been shining across the global firmament; Ram temple is coming up at Ayodhya; Kashi corridor and construction or refurbishing of several temples. A case pending for a long time regarding Kashi temple. Even that case will be in favour of Hindus, mark my words.

Q: What do secularism and constitution mean for you?

I don’t know what secularism is. I only understand Hinduism and I will strive for a Hindu rashtra.

Q: What can your constituency people expect from you, if you retain the seat?

There are around 30 small slums in this constituency. I wish to give double bedroom homes to every such family. The BRS government has failed to deliver on its 2BHK promise. Just compare them with Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, where the state governments have constructed lakhs of houses and distributed them to the poor.
