Ex-MLA quits BJP to contest independently from Ramagundam
Warangal: Former MLA and BJP leader Somarapu Satyanarayana quit the BJP and decided to contest as an independent candidate from Ramagundam Assembly segment in Peddapalli district. He sent his resignation letter to the party state chief G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday.
Speaking to the media persons, Satyanarayana said that he had joined the BJP with great respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tried his level best to strengthen the party, but could not achieve the goals set by the party due to various reasons.
He stated that he quit the BJP as he lost confidence in its winning prospects in the state and decided to contest as an independent candidate from Ramagundam constituency as there was a lot of pressure from his colleagues and supporters who had been with him during his 16-year political career started as municipal chairman.
Meanwhile. there have been speculations that Satyanarayana has quit the BJP due to the group politics within the party.
While the candidates of the BRS and Congress have already started their election campaign in Ramagundam, analysts say Satyanarayana’s exit was a big blow for the BJP, which has an edge in the constituency.
