PM Modi Connects with Telangana\'s \'Heart\' at Vibrant Inaugural Event

Hyderabad: After inaugurating several projects at a hangar erected for the purpose, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he would address them again. “Dil khol ke baat karunga Telangana ka dil ki baat karunga,” enthusing the people about his public meeting in another venue a few yards away

As the Prime Minister went around the venue in an open-top vehicle, some women from the Lambada community clad in their traditional attire were seen dancing. As he passed by, they showered Modi with flowers.

After the cameras focused on a child in the audience, Modi blessed him. Seeing this, many other parents held their children up on their shoulders to receive the PM’s blessings.

A woman had a welcome message to PM Modi as mehendi on her hands. This was highlighted and was received well.

A notable feature was the presence of women, especially after the passage of the women's reservation bill.

Modi's liberal use of the Telugu phrase 'na kutumba sabyulara' was well received and helped connect with the audience. The frequent usage of the phrase was a hit with the audience after his attack on family-run parties.

D.K. Aruna, party vice-president from undivided Mahbubnagar, was seated beside the Prime Minister and presented him a memento. While senior leaders made an appearance, the meeting appeared intended to project local leaders, who got a seat on the dais.

The flying drone and close-up cameras created a festive atmosphere with people waving excitedly at the cameras and, akin to spectators at a cricket match, watching themselves on the big screens.

Dr K Laxman ensured that none of the common goof-ups that bedevil translations of speeches at public meetings by national leaders occurred. Compared to speeches being interpreted near-live at meetings of leaders who address in Hindi, Dr Laxman was near perfect in delivering the Telugu version.

After several weeks to months of a moribund mood, the Modi meeting has galvanised the party ahead of the elections.
