BRS leaders\' security enhanced: BJP alleges poll code violation, complain to EC
Hyderabad: In the wake of the attack on Medak MP and BRS Dubbak candidate Kotha Prabhakar Reddy in Siddipet district on Monday, the police department has decided to enhance security to all BRS MLAs, MPs and also to provide adequate security to other BRS candidates.
Orders have been issued to all CPs, SPs, and related wings from the state Intelligence department late on Monday.
The existing 2+2 and 3+3 cover has been enhanced to a 4+4 cover. All unit officers have been directed to ensure the security cover is provided to the MLAs, MPs, and candidates under their respective jurisdiction.
However, the orders did not mention any security arrangements for other party candidates.
Meanwhile, Dubbak MLA and the BJP candidate from the constituency M. Raghunandan Rao, met the chief electoral officer of Telangana alleging that the State Intelligence chief, in violation of model code of conduct, has issued a circular to enhance security of all contesting BRS MLA and MPs.
He also sought strict action and transfer of commissioner of police and assistant commissioner of police of Siddipet.
“After the attack on Dubbak BRS candidate Kotha Prabhakar Reddy the BRS workers took the opportunity to attack our party workers, ransacked the houses of BJP sympathizers, and caused irreparable damage to the life and property in the constituency. They have also resorted to acts like burning effigies and pasting posters portraying BJP workers as having committed the act,” said Raghunandan Rao in his complaint.
