Mizoram Polls: Sonia urges electorate to vote for Congress
Ahead of the elections in Mizoram, AICC leader and chairperson of Congress Parliamentary party Sonia Gandhi appealed to the youth and women in the state to vote for Congress as it means to be a vote for peace, prosperity and progress of the state.
Recalling her special bond with Mizoram, she reminded them of the signing of The Apostle of Peace Accord in 1986.
She slammed the BJP for valuing neither diversity nor democracy nor dialogue. Democracy is under threat in North East India and the entire country under the BJP and RSS.
She also expressed concern that the BJP was forcing laws that prove detrimental to the interests of the tribals.
At the same time, she termed the ZPM and MNF as BJP proxies and called upon the electorate in the state to beware of voting for them, as they are the gateways for the BJP into Mizoram.

She said that only the Congress can guarantee the development of Mizoram and empowerment of its people.
Sonia Gandhi mentioned about the guarantees the Congress can give to the Mizos just like the party did in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
She appealed to the electorate in Mizoram to vote for the Congress for protection of the Article 371G of the Constitution and also Mizo way of life.
Congress senior leader Jairam Ramesh posted the video wherein Sonia made the appeal to the Mizo voters to choose their party during the elections.
