Hyderabad: The GHMC’s BJP corporators staged a dharna at the HMWS&SB’s office, demanding the removal of silt from drainage, pelting silt in front of the building on Tuesday morning.
BJP corporators said that officials failed to remove silt, which is causing drainage overflows and flooding. “We repeatedly requested the officials concerned for silt removal, but in vain,” a protester said.
The agitators also raised slogans against the BRS government to allocate funds to fix civic issues.
As the protest intensified, the police arrested the BJP corporators and shifted to Saidabad police station.
They were booked under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 427 (an aggravated form of mischief which is based on the degree of the damage caused) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
