GVL meets Governor, seeks disclosure of SIT reports on Visakhapatnam land scams
Visakhapatnam: Meeting Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Abdul Nazeer that there have been large scale malpractices of land grabbing in Visakhapatnam over the past 9 years after the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh in 2014, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sri GVL Narasimha Rao submitted a memorandum to the Governor stating that the present YCP government and the previous TDP government have deliberately kept secret two Special Investigation Team (SIT) reports on land scams in Visakhapatnam.
MP GVL Narasimha Rao informed the Governor that the previous TDP-led state government constituted an SIT in 2017 which submitted a voluminous report in 2018. And, the present YCP government also constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in 2019 which submitted its report September 2021, GVL mentioned in a letter submitted to the Governor.
MP GVL complained that both the SIT reports which have brought out glaring violations and large scale land grabbing in Visakhapatnam by unscrupulous politicians and other vested interests have not been disclosed to the public.
"As larger public interest is involved, it is incumbent upon the state government to put in public domain the two unedited, original reports submitted by the two SITs immediately. Lack of transparency by the present and previous state governments has given rise to serious suspicion that the reports have been used by successive state governments to protect the land grabbers and unduly benefit from an unholy nexus with the land grabbers", MP GVL Narasimha Rao alleged in his letter.
Requesting the Governor to direct the state government to release the two SIT reports on land scams and irregularities in Visakhapatnam and seek an action taken report on them from the state government, MP GVL observed that larger public interest will be served by his decision.
After the meeting, MP Sri GVL Narasimha Rao informed the media that he had also informed the Governor that the state government was renaming schemes of the Central government and sought suitable intervention in the matter.
MP GVL further said that he has urged the Governor for the establishment of a State Sainik Welfare Board in Andhra Pradesh for taking effective steps for the welfare of ex-servicemen in the state and the Governor assured to look into the matter.
