TD, YSRC to showcase strength in Amaravati region

The TD leaders are making arrangements to pool up at least 10,000 party workers from urban and district units for the event.

Vijayawada: The ruling and Opposition parties are getting ready to showcase their strength and base in the capital region during this week.

While the YSR Congress is preparing ground for its first national plenary in the capital region, the TD also geared up to showcase its strength in Vijayawada city to mark party’s urban president’s swearing-in ceremony on Sunday. The TD leaders are making arrangements to pool up at least 10,000 party workers from urban and district units for the event.

The CM also reportedly directed the party urban leaders to make the programme a success to instill confidence among the party cadres, as 2019 is an election year.

Perhaps this is the second such show of might by the TD cadres in a span of two weeks as the city has already witnessed the grand medical camp and Devineni Nehru’s statue unveiling programme on June 22 here at Gunadala. While young leader Devineni Avinash has showcased his strength indirectly in the form of pooling up party cadres and Nehru’s fans for the medical camp, MLC Budhha Venkanna, the three-time urban TD president wants to showcase his strength to mark his swearing-in ceremony at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram on Sunday.

In fact, Mr Venkannna was elected unanimously for the third time to the TD urban party presidentship and was able to gain the confidence of the party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and national general secretary nara Lokesh. Mr Venkanna has organised the programme in a large scale with huge hoardings across the city to showcase that he has grip over the urban party affairs, and also the support of MP Kesineni Nani and three city MLAs.

Known for his combating nature, Mr Venkanna could attract the attention of Mr Naidu during Durga flyover agitation. The TD MLC said that he has spoken to the city police regarding possible traffic diversionsfor the Sunday’s programme.

Meanwhile, the YSRC also geared up for its national plenary near Nagarjuna University next week. The YSRC is anticipating that around 30,000 party workers per day would attend the plenary, said party leaders Talasila Raghuram and Lella Appi Reddy.
