YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to take up Tribals' issue
Rajahmundry: After giving a patient hearing to the kin of the deceased tribals who complained about lack of proper medical and health care and basic amenities at Chaparai village of Y. Ramavaram mandal in East Godavari, YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy vowed to take up their issue in the Assembly to nail the state government for its failure to save the lives of 16 Tribals by providing timely health care.
YSR Congress chief Mr Reddy interacted with the family members of the 16 deceased Tribals during his visit to Chaparai village on Saturday. The Tribals complained that their fellow-Tribals died due to malnutrition and anemia and ruled out district administration’s version of death due to consumption of adulterated food and contaminated water. They said that they were not in the habit of consumption of meat of deceased animals and added that they survive on rice, cereals and millets.
The tribals blamed the district administration for failing to tackle viral fevers even if they were found to be rampant in the area in the recent past and alleged that they lack proper medical and health care in the village. They said that in order to get essentials at a fair price shop, they had to walk for a distance of 20 km from the village. They further said that kerosene supply was stopped to them and no domestic gas connection was sanctioned and added that they were forced to cook food on firewood.
The tribals asked for supply of purified water, medical and healthcare facilities ration cards, pensions and domestic gas connection.
Responding to their plea, Mr Reddy said that he would take up their issue in the coming session of the Assembly to mount pressure upon the state government to provide all the requisite amenities to them. He also announced relief to the kin of the deceased from the party fund and assured to make efforts with the state government to provide suitable relief to them. He vowed to fight with the government to provide them proper financial relief.
Earlier, Mr Reddy visited the area hospital at Rampachodavaram and enquired about the progress of the health of the tribals who are undergoing medical treatment.
