Follow Jharkhand in banning PFI, says BJP
Chennai: The alleged involvement of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the killing of Hindu Munnani spokesman C. Sasi Kumar in Coimbatore and also the attacks ‘engineered’ by the PFI and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on BJP and Communist functionaries in neighbouring Kerala, has made the BJP rather apprehensive of the lurking ‘national’ threat.
The party has demanded a ban on PFI and SDPI in both the States, similar to the ban enforced by the Jharkhand government on PFI in February this year saying “members of this organisation are influenced by the Islamic State terror group (ISIS). Also, the demand for ban on PFI is based on the findings of the National Investigation Agency, which had probed the chopping of the right hand of a former college professor in July, 2010 allegedly by SDPI activists and ISIS-related cases in Kerala.
According to A. P. Muruganandam, all India vice president of BJP Yuva Morcha, who on July 31 took charge in Delhi as national head and coordinator to hold agitations and protests against the ruling dispensation where the BJP is in the opposition, his party's Yuva Morcha has been insisting upon a total ban on these two outfits since last year.
“I had even drafted a proposal seeking the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to impose a ban. Now Kerala home department is seriously considering a ban on the outfits. I have taken up this issue at national level,” he said on Wednesday. Speaking to this correspondent on Wednesday he said in Tamil Nadu PFI cadres and leaders are involved in several murders including that of Sasi Kumar.
Further, he has also sought the transfer of investigation of repeated murders of Hindu activists in Karnataka and Kerala from state police to the NIA. “The series of incidents in Karnataka prove beyond doubt that PFI is a reincarnation of the banned Jihadi organization - SIMI,” he added.
“We have planned a massive rally against the Mamata government on Aug. 11 which will be led by our party president Amit Shah. ,, There will be a big threat for national security, if these outfits are not banned in India’s interest,” he added.
