DSC 2008 merit candidates sit on Deeksha demanding jobs
HYDERABAD: Nearly 400 DSC-2008 merit candidates, who lost their jobs due to errors from the government side, staged a satyagraha at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park here on Sunday.
They demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao fulfil the promise he had made in 2016 at Warangal. They also appealed to the government to issue orders and provide relief to 1,200 families, which have been affected by its follies.
Uma Maheswar, president of the group, told Deccan Chronicle that the government was aware of the injustice meted out to BEd and merit candidates, who were selected but did not get jobs according to the DSC 2008 SGT notification in undivided AP. “During the Telangana movement, Rao and his Cabinet colleagues had supported our legal battle and stood by us”, he said
General Secretary Singari Sangameswar said that “although the High Court and Supreme Court ruled in our favour and sought that BEd and merit candidates impacted by the DSC-2008 SGT be given jobs, nothing has been done in that regard. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government has provided 2,200 jobs three years ago.”
