Government neglected north Andhra, says senior BJP leader GVL

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao said successive governments neglected the north Andhra region, which still remains backward.

Narasimha Rao toured the north Andhra region on Sunday and later talking to media persons at Srikakulam, he said it was unfortunate that the region lacked employment opportunities.

“Srikakulam district was completely neglected and there is no Central government office in Srikakulam or Prakasam district, a fault of the state government,’’ Rao said. He said the state government never sent proposals to the Centre for establishment of any office.

He said the state government failed to utilise the Jal Jeevan Mission funds. Further attacking the YSRC government, he said many communities were not included in the OBC list. Only the Kapu community was included in the list from the three districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.

He reminded that the Telangana government deleted 26 communities from the state government list. “We have informed the National Commission for Backward Classes on this deletion by the Telangana government,’’ Rao said.
