CPM Says GVMC Released TDRs Worth Thousands of Crores
Visakhapatnam: CPM has alleged that under political pressure Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has released transferable development rights (TDRs) worth thousands of crores in the last two years.
In this regard, CPM corporator from 78th Ward B. Ganga Rao demanded that GVMC call a special council meeting to discuss the TDR scam of YSRC leaders. He said their party will hold a protest over the issue on November 6.
Ganga Rao underlined that last month, TDRs worth about Rs 2,008 crore had been given to a person named Joginadham Verma. CBSNC (Convention of Baptist Churches of Northern Circars) got Rs 63 crore-worth TDRs for road widening at Siripuram junction.
He further said recently a private person claimed that Pedda Jalaripeta near Pedda Waltair belonged to him and applied to GVMC for Rs 2,800 crore worth TDRs. Another person applied to GVMC for Rs 1,000 crore worth TDRs in Bilal Colony slum at Seethammadhara.
The CPM leader said GVMC treasury is getting drained because of such TDRs. Over this, their party is organising a protest on November 6, he stated.
Meanwhile, GVMC has suspended Rs 208.40 crore worth TDRs, which had been issued for Madhurawada road widening in Visakhapatnam city range.
