Siddaramaiah Reaffirms Leadership and Congress\'s Commitment to Stable Karnataka Govt
HOSAPETE: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, during his visit to Vijayanagara district on Thursday, affirmed that the Congress party would ensure a stable government in the state for the entire five-year term. He also confirmed his ongoing role as Chief Minister.
"We are committed to providing a stable government in Karnataka for the next five years. I am presently the Chief Minister, and I will continue," Siddaramaiah told reporters when asked about a possible change in leadership in the state.
Following the Congress's clear majority in the assembly election, the Congress high command had designated Siddaramaiah as CM and DK Shivakumar as his deputy. However, recently, some MLAs had raised discussions regarding a leadership change, suggesting that DK Shivakumar would soon take over as CM.
Speaking to reporters in Hosapete, Siddaramaiah advised against giving too much importance to individuals engaged in such discussions. He questioned the need to attach significance to such remarks.
Addressing rumors about the appointment of three Deputy Chief Ministers (DCMs), Siddaramaiah stressed that any significant decisions would require approval from the party's high command.
"Ours is a national party, and major decisions are made in consultation with the high command. Every action is in accordance with the decisions of the High Command," he asserted.
Responding to BJP leaders discussing the potential collapse of the state government, Siddaramaiah stated that the BJP is understandably disappointed by the assembly election's outcome.
"Ramesh Jarkiholi's claims of an impending collapse of the state government stem from his lack of other engagements. The people of the state have entrusted us with 136 seats. We are committed to providing a robust administration for years to come. The BJP's attempts, like 'operation Kamala,' may have succeeded before, but they won't this time," he said.
