B S Yeddyurappa lacks political culture, a big liar: CM Siddaramaiah
Hubballi: The personal comments made against him by BJP leaders, provoked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to remark on Friday that leaders of the saffron party including their state president B.S. Yeddyurappa lack political culture.
Responding sharply to a jibe by Yeddyurappa equating him to a ‘baccha’ (child) in politics, the CM said there was no need for him to learn lessons from those who were jailed over corruption charges. Questioning the intellectual ability of Yeddyurappa, he said the BJP leader did not have proper knowledge of politics.
Terming him a big liar, he quipped that the shepherd in his native hamlet speaks better language compared to the abusive language being used by BJP leaders.
“Politicians should not launch personal attacks against each other. Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde is unfit to become a parliamentarian as he has used vulgar language against literateurs who took part in the Kannada Sahitya Sammelan,” said Siddaramaiah during the centenary celebration of Basaveshwar Bank in Bagalkot on Friday.
Suspecting that the BJP president was trying to derive political mileage by promising to resolve the Mahadayi water dispute, he said the state government will however welcome any such effort in the interest of drought-prone farmers.
Reiterating that the charges made against minister Vinay Kulkarni are baseless, he said there is no concrete evidence to prove his involvement in the Yogish Gouda murder case. Stating that these charges are politically motivated, he said that all accused in the case have been arrested and their interrogation is going on.
Siddaramaiah also said that many BJP leaders are in touch with him but was not prepared to disclose their names at this juncture. The Chief Minister lost his cool and expressed his anger against Bagalkot superintendent of police C.B. Rishyant for allowing some protesters to meet him. The protesters tried to submit a memorandum to the CM demanding ST reservation for the Kuruba community.
Meanwhile, former minister and Badami MLA B.B. Chimmanakatti said that Congress will not survive in the district if he is not given a ticket.
