Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday, in its pitch to the people for the Lok Sabha elections, said it was the only party that could speak for the people of Telangana in the Parliament and urged the people to support it in the ensuing polls later this year.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said: “This time, for the Lok Sabha elections, candidate selection will be based on consensus. This is what our president KCR told us.”
He was speaking after a meeting of party leaders from the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency.
“Our leaders said people were aghast at KCR not becoming the CM again. Their feedback was that people had issues with some BRS candidates, and even those who voted for other parties, now feel KCR’s absence,” Rama Rao said.
The opinion was that BRS could not effectively counter the Congress’ campaign in Assembly elections, he said.
On the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, he said that the BRS was ready for any kind of probe by any agency. “We have nothing to hide… did nothing wrong,” he said.
He said his party will take to the people the full list of Congress’ promises and how the new Congress government is indulging in diversions in a bid to not implement its “impossible-to-keep” election promises.
