MIM, BRS remain aligned

Hyderabad: Giving a clear indication that AIMIM was with the BRS and there was no change in the understanding between the two, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that Telangana has remained peaceful and did not witness any riot since its formation in 2014.

He said that the state witnessed progress and growth of software and pharma industries, with its GDP at a much better position than that of BJP-ruled states.

Addressing a gathering on the 65th foundation day of the party, the Hyderabad MP accused the BJP of attempting to spread hatred and poison in Telangana.

“If you go to other states, you will notice that there won’t even be anyone to wipe your tears. It is time to gear up for the next Assembly elections in a more organised way. There will be a strategy to be adopted. Other parties gear up for the elections eight months prior, but Majlis remains at the service of people after elections. People are fed up with the BJP in Telangana. I urge women to salute LPG cylinders, whose gas has become more expensive after Modi filled it,” he said.

Asaduddin Owaisi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to why the government was silent over controversial remarks made by radical leader Amritpal Singh in Punjab. “Is this the Amrit Kaal which was being hyped. Who is this Amrit? Why is Amit silent on this? Had it been a Muslim who spoke like this, television anchors would have got a chance to run the show for 24 hours,” he said.

The AIMIM chief welcomed the Supreme Court ruling that the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and the election commissioners will be appointed by the President on the advice of a committee comprising the Prime Minister, leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India.

The party’s floor leader in Telangana, Akbaruddin Owaisi, took a swipe at the promises made by Modi before coming to power. “I remember the promise that ‘first toilets, then temples’ (pehley shauchalay, phir devalay’). I ask the Gaurakshaks if toilets were constructed at your place? Nothing concrete has been achieved in 10 years. We don’t need neither the tea of chaiwala, whistle of chowkidar, nor do we want the bag (jhola) of fakiri,” he said, to applause.

Alleging that secular parties failed Muslims, Akbar held that AIMIM was forced to take the path and spread its wings across the country. “They not only failed to fulfil their responsibility, but also failed in controlling the rise of Hindutva. They had failed to justify their positions,” he said.
