Valmikis thank Jagan over ST status
KURNOOL: Labour minister Gummanur Jayaram and YSRCP district president and city mayor B.Y. Ramaiah on Sunday thanked the state government for passing a resolution in State Legislative Assembly asking the central government to include Valmiki / Boya community in the ST list.
Earlier in the day, the community members led by Jayaram and Ramaiah took out a procession from Zilla Parishad Office to Sri Krishnadevaraya Junction and garlanded the statue of Sage Valmiki. Later, they washed a portrait of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy kept on the dais, thanking the CM for the resolution.
Jayaram declared that he would stand by Jagan Mohan Reddy in the next general elections, as the dream of the Valmiki community is being fulfilled.
Ramaiah said Jagan had created history by allotting 105 posts to people of the Valmiki community.
District Central Library chairman Subhash Chandra Bose also spoke.
