Another chance to apply for housesites under Pedalandiriki Illu scheme
VIJAYAWADA: The state government will give another chance to people to apply for housesites under Pedalandiriki Illu scheme.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said “All those eligible persons who missed out can apply and houses will be sanctioned within 90 days after the verification process is completed.”
The Chief Minister said it was unfortunate that 3.74 lakh beneficiaries are being left out due to pending cases in courts. He said that the government shall treat it as a priority project and ensure that justice is served, eventually.
Reddy said that the economic situation, which has been hit by Covid-19, will improve with the housing project will create livelihood to masons, welders, carpenters, electricians, brick makers and cement traders. He stated that while prices of building materials are skyrocketing, the government has taken the initiative to provide material at affordable prices, by procuring 69.70 lakh metric tonnes of cement, 7.44 lakh metric tonnes of steel, 310 lakh metric tonnes of sand, and other materials for the initial phase of construction. He affirmed that the government will also provide 20 metric tonnes of sand free of cost from nearby sand rigs.
The Chief Minister stated that the government has given three options to beneficiaries. According to the first option, the government will supply quality construction material and pay for labour charges, while the beneficiaries can build a house on their own. In the second option, the beneficiaries can bring materials required and build a house as per their interests.
The government will make payments to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts in a phased manner depending on the progress of construction. In the third option, the government will build the house taking the entire responsibility of the materials.
