BRS Ranks MLAs on Win Probability, Warns Underperforming Candidates

Hyderabad: The BRS leadership has categorised the party’s 104 MLAs into three ranks, namely A, B and C, with those certain to win getting the A rank, those with a 35-50 per cent winning chance getting the B rank and those with a 20-35 per cent chances getting the C rank.

It has decided to lay special focus on B and C category MLAs in the run-up to the polls. There are 30 MLAs under the B category and 18 under the C category.

Party sources said that the leadership has issued specific sets of instructions to MLAs falling under the B and C categories, to improve their performance.

B category MLAs were asked to improve their performance while C category MLAs were warned that they would not get tickets to contest the upcoming Assembly elections if there was no improvement in their ratings in surveys, by September.

The party leadership is reportedly obtaining weekly survey reports on the performance of MLAs and alerting MLAs on their shortcomings.

Although the party leadership is claiming publicly that it is sure to win 90 to 100 seats out of 119 in upcoming Assembly polls this year and retain power for a third term, internal discussions have reportedly been restrained, with leaders expecting to win 70 to 75 seats.

In 2014, BRS won 63 seats and in 2018, its tally went up to 88. But its strength has now increased to 104 as MLAs who won as independent or on other party tickets joined the BRS.
