BRS leaders team up against Jangaon MLA
WARANGAL: A phone call made by the BRS district president and ZP chief Pagala Sampath Reddy to the Narmetta mandal ZPTC Srinivas Naik, asking him to support the candidature of two MLCs, either Palla Rajeshwar Reddy or Pochampallly Srinivas Reddy, against the sitting MLA Muttireddy Yadagiri Reddy, went viral on social media platforms on Wednesday in the erstwhile Warangal district.
Several senior officials of the Jangaon district's BRS have openly opposed MLA Yadagiri Reddy over land grabbing claims levelled not just by other circles but also by his daughter Tuljha Bhavani Reddy.
They claimed that the party was gaining a poor reputation as a result of MLA Yadagiri Reddy. They believe that because there is widespread hostility towards MLAs, it would be inappropriate to give Yadagiri Reddy another party ticket in the upcoming assembly elections.
The leaders also criticised MLA Yadagiri Reddy's nativity, stating he was a non-local and that it would be better to support MLC Palla Rajeswhar Reddy, who is from Jangaon district and originates from Pallagutta in Station Ghanpur mandal.
In a phone call, Sampath Reddy asked Srinivas Naik to gather all the district's important leaders so that they could meet with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and ask him to consider allotting an Assembly ticket to either Rajeswhar Reddy or Srinivas Reddy from the Jangaon constituency instead of Yadagiri Reddy.
In an explanation to the media, Sampath Reddy admitted that it was his phone call but denied opposing the sitting MLA Muttireddy Yadagiri Reddy. "I told the BRS leaders that they should support either Palla or Pochampally for an Assembly ticket from the Jangaon Assembly constituency, but not oppose the sitting MLA," he said.
According to party sources, Sampath Reddy was able to become ZP chief thanks to the assistance of MLC Palla Rajeswhar Reddy. To repay his favour, Samapth Reddy has rallied the BRS leaders and cadre in favour of Rajeswhar Reddy, who is opposing MLA Yadagiri Reddy's ticket in the upcoming Assembly elections.
