Register entire family in same polling booth, says Nizamabad collector

NIZAMABAD: District election officer and collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu on Sunday directed officials to take steps to keep all the voters belonging to one family in the same polling booth.

He suggested booth level officers visit every house to verify the details of the voters.

In view of the guidelines from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the collector inspected polling booths in the district. He visited Zilla Parishad Girls High School at Armoor, and primary schools at Balkonda and Srirampur on Sunday and inspected the special camps for voters.

He enquired about the additions and deletions in the electoral rolls.

The collector said that booth level officers (BLOs) should identify the youths and students who have attained the legal age of 18 years in villages and enrol them as voters. If the voters of the entire family are scattered into different polling booths, they should be registered in the same polling booth, he said.

All applications should be uploaded in the BLP App during the special camps of voter awareness, he said.

He directed the polling personnel to be careful in preparing final voter lists error-free. Armoor RDO Vinod Kumar, tahsildars, booth level supervisors and others accompanied the collector.
