CID notice to TD leader and ex minister Ponguru Narayana
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Monday summoned former municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana for questioning on October 4 in connection with the alleged Amaravati Inner Ring Road (IRR) alignment scam.
TD national general-secretary and former minister Nara Lokesh will also be questioned on the same day at the CID’s Vijayawada office.
Lokesh received the summons on Saturday in New Delhi. Narayana, who was the second accused in the IRR case, sought anticipatory bail from the AP High Court and was called for questioning on Wednesday.
Reacting to the CID notice, Narayana said he would attend the questioning in Vijayawada.
In May 2022, the CID had registered an FIR against Chandrababu Naidu, former municipal administration minister P. Narayana, Heritage Foods Ltd, and others for alleged irregularities in the construction of the internal ring road in Amaravati.
The FIR was based on a complaint from YSRC Mangalgiri MLA A. Ramakrishna Reddy. It was alleged that certain illegal and corrupt activities were committed by highly placed government officials between 2014 and 2019 with regard to the design of the master plan for the AP capital and alignment of the ring road to cause wrongful gain to certain individuals.
