Baghel says party enjoys confidence of people

Chhattisgarh is going to assembly polls by the end of the year

Raipur: Congress on Monday took out ‘Bharosa Yatra’ across Chhattisgarh, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Senior party leaders of the state including chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, deputy chief minister T S Singh Deo, AICC general secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh affairs Kumari Selja, state party president Deepak Baij and state assembly speaker Charan Das Mahant took out motorcycle rallies in their respective assembly constituencies on the occasion.

The yatras, each led by senior party leaders in their respective areas of influence, covered all the 90 assembly constituencies, party’s media wing chairman Sushil Anand Shukla said.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Baghel said that the yatra has established the confidence of people in Congress.

He said that his government has fulfilled all the promises made to the people in the state.

He said that his government has waived crop loans of 18 lakh farmers amounting to Rs 9,000 crore.

Similarly, the state government has implemented the promise made by Congress before the 2018 assembly polls by procuring paddy at Rs 2,500 per quintal each from the farmers.

The procurement price has now gone up to Rs 2,640 per quintal, he said.

He said that his government has provided input subsidies to the farmers under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Yojana to ensure a fixed income to them.

The chief minister said that the state government has declared a minimum support price for 67 forest produce providing the right price to the tribals for their forest produce.

Addressing a public meeting in his constituency in Bastar, Mr Baij, who is a Lok Sabha member, said that the state government has provided an unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 per month to the unemployed youths.

Chhattisgarh is going to assembly polls by the end of the year.
