Barrelakka gets fourth position in Kollapur
Hyderabad: Karne Shireesha, who gained fame as Barrelakka on YouTube, ended up fourth at Kollapur, having garnered 5,754 votes. Congress candidate Jupally Krishna Rao won this seat with a margin of around 29,000 votes over incumbent Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy.
Shireesha, who had hit big time by highlighting the employment situation, with a YouTube video stating that she was an unemployed graduate who had to wash buffaloes, had recently moved the High Court for increased security after her family members were attacked.
Chitrapu Pushpita Laya, the only transgender person in the fray, secured the fifth position with 966 votes at the Warangal East constituency. Konda Surekha of the Congress won from this constituency.
At 80, Cheeti Shyamala, an independent candidate from Jagtial, was the oldest contestant and secured 788 votes. The winning candidate was Dr Sanjay from the BRS. She had been thrown out of her house by her son, and contested to highlight the plight of senior citizens.
This election also saw IIT alumni in the fray: Dasari Usha, formerly of IIT- Kharagpur. Contesting on a Bahujan Samaj Party ticket from Peddapalli, she stood third, ahead of the BJP, with 10,315 votes. The winner was the Congress’ Chinthakunta Vijaya Ramana Rao and incumbent BRS legislator Dasari Manohar Reddy stood second.
