Telangana Polls Results: No takers for Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena
Hyderabad: The Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party, which had an electoral alliance with the BJP, contested from eight constituencies and lost all of them, including Kukatpally, Tandur, Kodad, Khammam, Wyra ST, Kothagudem, Aswaraopeta ST and Nagarkurnool.
While the party, seen mostly as an Andhra Pradesh outfit, was not expected to make any dents, one of its candidates, M. Prem Kumar, who contested from Kukatpally, received a respectable 38,830 votes, finishing third behind BRS and Congress.
The BJP hoped that Jana Sena, with its Andhra roots, could make an impact in areas where people from Andhra origin live.
Pawan Kalyan welcomed the verdict in Telangana polls, saying, “These polls are a milestone in the history of the party, which took birth in the state. We had so far desisted from contesting in the polls in the newly formed state and entered the fray this time after giving the party sufficient time to work. Taking into account the sacrifices made by the youth in the formation of the state, we gave tickets to many from the backward communities.”
He said in a release, “We will continue our endeavour towards empowering the backward communities. Our efforts to make a BC the Chief Minister of the state will continue. I congratulate the Congress leadership and we will continue to be engaged in a constructive manner”.
