Chennai: The Congress party here has dared the ruling AIADMK to move the 'no confidence' motion against the BJP-led government at the Centre for “failing” to implement the Supreme Court order on the Cauvery issue.
Close on the heels of AIADMK senior and Deputy leader of the Lok Sabha M. Thambidurai expressing that his party would consider moving the 'no trust motion' provided the Congress high command and the DMK extended support on the Cauvery issue, TNCC president Su. Thirunavukkarasar said, the AIADMK has requisite numbers (of MPs) in the Parliament to bring the 'no-confidence motion' on its own.
“Let the AIADMK first bring the motion and then seek the support of the Congress. We will take an appropriate decision on it. The party high command will decide,” Mr. Thirunavukkarasar said.
Reacting to DMK working president M. K. Stalin asking the AIADMK to bring a no-trust motion on Cauvery issue against the BJP-led NDA government, Mr. Thambidurai had said, “we are ready to bring it. Let Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi issue a statement that they (DMK) are in alliance with the Congress. Only if they (Congress) support, we will get the (requisite) numbers.”
Flood PMO with crores of emails: G. K. Vasan Meanwhile, calling for a novel protest to ‘safeguard the rights’ of Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery, TMC leader and former Union Minister G. K. Vasan has called upon the people, especially the youth to flood Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office with emails. Speaking at a meeting here he accused the Centre of “deceiving” TN by not setting up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
“It is continuously ignoring us in various issues. We cannot sacrifice the rights of Tamil Nadu in any way… youngsters and students should send crores of emails to the PM’s office, highlighting the plight of the State and urging him to protect its rights,” Mr. Vasan urged.
