Harish Rao has a big birthday bash in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: TRS leaders made a beeline to the official residence of party senior leader and irrigation minister T. Harish Rao to greet him on his birthday on Sunday. This is for the first time that Mr Harish Rao’s birthday was held on a grand scale in the city by his supporters.
Interestingly, his supporters abbreviated Mr Harish Rao’s name to THR, on hoardings, flexies, banners, on the lines of KCR and KTR.
His supporters said like Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and minister K.T. Rama Rao, Mr Harish Rao was most popular since the launch of the TRS in 2001, and it would be apt to call him THR, which would be more convenient for people and his supporters to address him.
IT minister K.T. Rama Rao did not visit his residence, he extended birthday wishes through Twitter. Mr Rama Rao tweeted, “Many happy returns of the day to one of our most industrious and effective minister Harish Rao garu (sic).”
Mr Harish Rao stay in his Siddipet constituency on his birthday, launching development programmes, spending time with students in government hostels or children in orphanages and senior citizens in old age homes.
Mr Harish Rao’s residential complex was jampacked with supporters from Siddipet as well as other districts. His supporters burst crackers and the complex reverberated with slogans like “Harish Rao Zindabad” and “Telangana Asha-jyothi Harish”.
The city was flooded with hoardings and flexies greeting Mr Harish Rao. Among those who turned up at his house were Deputy CM Mohd Mahmood Ali, ministers Pocharam Srinivas Red-dy, G. Jagadish Reddy, Etela Rajender, MLAs Teegala Krishna Reddy, A. Gandhi, Madhavaram Krishna Rao and Babu Mohan.
