BRS has no right to celebrate farmer's day', says Congress
HYDERABAD: Taking exception to the celebrations of June 3 as Telangana Farmer’ Day, G. Chinna Reddy, chairman of the TPCC Telangana Formation Day celebrations committee, said it was being done with an eye on elections.
“We will hold the 10th statehood anniversary celebrations on June 2, 2024, after coming to power,” he added.
This government has not been able to even canals to provide water from the Kumaram Bheem and Vattivagu projects, which were completed by the previous Congress government, said S. Anvesh Reddy, president, Kisan Cell Telangana.
Questioning the claim of providing 24 hours electricity for agriculture, he said, “Show us one village getting three phase power for 24 hours. Telangana is the only state without a crop insurance scheme. The much-hyped promise of Rs 10,000 per acre for crop losses owing to untimely rains has failed to materialise. So far 7,000 farmers have ended their lives of whom majority are tenant farmers. Tenant farmers have not received any compensation in the past nine years.”
