MLC Iqbal supporters organise rally seeking Assembly ticket

ANANTAPUR: Hindupur politics continued with internal bickering between groups as a group of Muslims organised a rally in support of the YSRC town in charge and MLC Md Iqbal in Sri Satya Sai district on Sunday.

As former IG, Iqbal could not win against TD candidate Nandamuri Balakrishna in the previous Assembly polls, the ruling party accommodated him in the state Legislative Council.

However, he has been facing dissidence within his party with several elected representatives from municipalities and mandals pointing a finger at him which led to clashes several times.

The murder of former constituency coordinator C. Ramakrishna Reddy in which the personal assistant of the MLC was accused has led to more dissidence for the MLC. Even after the high command and regional coordinator Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy tried to calm down all groups to strengthen the party for the upcoming polls, the situation remained unsolved.

Iqbal was trying to prove his existence in the Assembly segment. A large number of members from the Muslim community organised a rally in support of Iqbal urging the party to make him the party nominee for the Assembly segment.
