Kutami to take on MIM in Majlis lair
Hyderabad: The MIM may face a 2009-like situation in the ensuing elections where it could see many of its rivals presenting a united front. It must be noted that the rivals did not largely succeed.
The Congress, TD, CPI and the Telangana Jana Samiti are on the verge of forging a Mahakutami but in the bastion of the MIM one more party — the MBT — will join it. The alliance plus the MBT will nominate candidates who had taken on the MIM on various platforms. Among such candidates are Mr Feroz Khan and Mr Mohammed Ghouse (both Congress), Mr Majeedullah Khan Farhat (MBT), Mr Ali bin Ibrahim Masqati and Mr Mohd Muzaffar Ali Khan (both TD), and Osman Bin Mohammed Alhajiri.
Alliance leaders and activists are meetings to reach a consensus so that they can field a strong candidate. It is learnt that Mr Masqati of the TD and Mr Ghouse of the Congress are both keen on contesting from Charminar, and want the other candidate to be fielded from Yakutpura. Yakutpura and Chandrayangutta will be given to the MBT in case neither Mr Ghouse nor Mr Masquati contests from there. The alliance is persuading Mr Muzaffar Ali Khan to contest from Malakpet.
Congress leaders are allegedly offering Mr Alhajiri a party ticket. The alliance apperas to be relying on unsuccessful candidates of the past. In the 2014 elections, MIM candidates won with a thumping majority from every seat. Only Mr Feroz Khan and Mr Masqati put up a tough fight.
