It will be TRS in Munugode elections, not BRS
HYDERABAD: The TRS will contest the Munugode Assembly bypoll on its original name though the party will pass a resolution on October 5 to rename the TRS as the BRS and seek the approval of Election Commission of India.
Party sources said the EC approval process might take a few weeks whereas Munugode bypoll notification will be issued on October 7 and with October 14 as deadline to file nominations.
As per EC rules, any party seeking registration of name has to submit an application to it within 30 days after a resolution has been passed. It has to publish the proposed name in two national dailies and two local dailies on two days. Objections by others have to be submitted within 30 days from publication of the notice.
The Election Commission of India will then take a decision on registration. However, in January this year, the EC reduced this time limit from 30 days to seven days keeping in view Covid-19 conditions in five states where Assembly polls were held. The TRS has to wait for at least a month to get EC's approval to meet stipulated guidelines.
Party sources said that TRS would get EC’s approval by November first week and by then Munugode bypoll result will be out on November 6. In any case, Munugode would be the last election for the TRS to contest on its original name.
